Tiles chosen, what next?

6 juni 2018

Finding the right tile for your bathroom, kitchen or toilet can be quite difficult. You’re not the only one! With such a huge range to choose from, making a decision can be challenging. But once you’ve finally found the tile that’s right for you, don’t forget to run through the following checklist too.

- Have you bought cement tiles? Don’t forget the sealants! These are essential for preserving your tiles. You can find the right products through our laying and care guide, depending on the room you’re tiling. Follow these steps and nothing can go wrong. Please note: The adhesive and grout must also be suitable for natural stone, and you need to take care with cleaning products too. View our products for more information.

- Book your tile fitter well in advance. The construction sector is doing well, which means long waiting lists for tile fitters. It’s very frustrating to discover this too late. Also make sure you clearly explain to the tile fitter which tile (or type of tile) is involved, as not every tile fitter is used to working with our products. We therefore always recommend working with the tile fitters listed on our website. They are familiar with our products, so we recommend them with complete confidence.

- Do you have a pattern spread across several tiles, as well as borders and corners? It can sometimes be a bit of a puzzle when you’ve taken the tiles out of the box. It’s much easier when you can see the overall layout than when you’re holding the individual tiles in your hand. So make sure the tile fitter always has a plan showing how the tiles should be laid. You’ll also want the pattern to be neatly centred. That’s why we have our tile planner, which allows you to calculate every centimetre. Can’t work it out? Feel free to ask for help in the shop; we’ll be happy to assist!

- Finding it difficult to picture what your kitchen or bathroom will look like with small tiles in your new-build home? We hear this very often. There are various programmes that allow you to draw out your bathroom or kitchen. Bring the design to our showroom and we’ll see whether we can incorporate our tiles into it. Do you have an existing bathroom that you’d like to bring back to life with our tiles? You can choose to hire a hammer drill, but you can also tile over the existing tiles. You’ll lose a little space, but it will save you a lot of mess. Just remember to prime the tiles properly first, so that the adhesive and tiles adhere well!

- Have you got your plan, your tiles, your tile fitter and your idea? Make sure the tradespeople communicate clearly about where the taps and pipes will go, so that everyone can do their work properly and the tiles look their best.
